So I finished my first four concentration pieces last night. (The day before our deadline, of course!)
Here's one of them that's actually been done for a while. It's not super exciting, definitely not my favorite, but I want to submit my whole concentration on here this year.
Did you know I hate drawing hands?
well. now you do. >.>

WELL OKAY
for those of you who aren't familiar with this superstition, knocking on wood is supposed to prevent bad things from happening after one "tempts fate" in some way (i.e. "I've never been attacked by a shark!")
So you would knock on wood to counteract that sort of statement.

And those weird swirly black things are supposed to be "evil spirits" who might hear you saying such things. Knocking on wood apparently makes them go away. haha.

this is reaaaallly really small, like 5 in. by 7 in. ish... (because, of course, it's much faster to finish your pieces quickly if they're small. ohoho)

The shadows on the hand are so good. o.o So detailed for something so small.

And you're so creative. 8D I love the black swirls as the bad spirits. :3

Imma wuss...NEARLY ALL THE TIME unless I have my dog (bested buddeh in the wurld eva <333) with me. Do something nice with bright sparkles and dogs balancing on circus balls and then I'll be happy.

the superstitions are amusing to listen to. most of them make no sense, but their like childrens fables. only darker. >3

The history of knocking on wood would be good to know-- the idea is that tree spirits living inside the wood could bless you, but since they slept so often, you had to knock on wood to wake them up.

It woulda been cool to see something like that, if even a greater source of light versus dark. Just featuring the act in progress can make a technically well-executed piece (and it is) but it still doesn't have as much thought behind it.

aww seriously it's knock on wood cool in dutch the same meaning is too hold on wood ^^
I serouisly suck with hand well in fact every part of a human but mostly the hands x] such an epic fail.
